lawson: five and six month update

I've tried hard to not have the "second child problems" and give you everything that your brother had... but, life has been SO busy and despite my efforts, i have gotten a little behind with your blogs and baby book. (only a month, so I think I'm still doing pretty good... and i'm here to catch us up to date with a combo five and six month post :)
you are doing great! you had your first cold between 5 and 6 months, but it didn't seem to bother you too much. i just hated to hear those pitiful baby coughs and sneezes! you weigh 15 lbs, 5 oz (8%), are 28 1/4 inches long (94%) and your head is 18" around (95%).
routine and sleep:
you go to sleep about the same time that Carter does, around 8:30 or 9. and sleep about 9.5 hours, waking up around 6. For a while you would nurse and then fall back asleep, but now you want to talk and play. you're so happy- even first thing in the morning- and always greet me with a sweet smile!

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays you go along with us to take Carter to school and run errands with mommy. You take a morning nap, though the time differs daily... and you often get woken up in the shuffle.

and then my goal every day is to try to get you and carter down for an afternoon nap at the same time for a couple of hours, about 1:30... and you usually take a quick cat nap in the evenings around dinner time.

... so basically, our schedule is kind of hit or miss. but for the most part, you go with the flow and i am thankful for that!
 clothes and diapers:
around 6 months, you went up to 9 months sleepers and rompers for the length, and wear 6 months in 2 piece outfits. and are in size 2 diapers, still.

i am still breastfeeding and after working with the lactation consultant and getting bloodwork done at around 4 months pp we realized that my iron was really low so i started taking a supplement for that. it has helped my energy levels so much, but unfortunately, i have still struggled with my milk supply.

a little after 4 months you decided that you would take a bottle of half breastmilk/half formula, which was SUCH a relief, since it DOUBLED what we were able to give you in a bottle to about 8 oz. i still pump in the middle of the night to get the breastmilk for you to have during the day and sometimes add in a pumping session or two throughout the day when i can.

Right before you turned 6 months, we started trying some foods! we gave you a banana first and let you just try to pick up the pieces and take it to your mouth. next, we mashed up avocado for you, followed by peas and green beans. you are really interested in the food, but still trying to figure out swallowing.
our favorite baby gear:
A friend let me borrow her baby bjorn and it has been a lifesaver. i wear you when we grocery shop or go to carter's activities so that i can use my hands. i also use the boppy daily for nursing in bed, and the humidifier was such a help when you had a cold.

milestones and development:
You had your first two teeth pop through at about 4.5 months old!! SO early. you are grabbing everything and taking it to your mouth. and you are able to stand up when you hold our hands!
aden + anais swaddle blankets are your favorite. you love to sleep with them in your face, just like your big brother did.

you like to pull mommy's hair, especially when nursing, which isn't equally exciting for me.

and teethers. lots and lots of teethers. and sophie the giraffe really is the best one.

you don't like going out to dinner... hopefully one day we can peacefully eat at restaurants again, without having to play pass-the-baby.

people are always commenting on your fuzzy hair, big blue eyes and two bottom teeth... but, my favorite thing is your scrunched nose and dimple in your right cheek when you smile at me :)

i love you, sweet boy.
