20 week bumpdate

How far along? 20 Weeks- half way there!... the picture was actually taken today, at 20 weeks and 3 days
Total weight gain/loss: when i went to the doctor last week, i had gained 6 lbs... but since i lost 2 the previous appt, that puts me at about +4.
Maternity clothes? still wearing maternity camis, the pants i bought in a size up and a lot of non-maternity dresses.
Stretch marks? not anymore than i already had.
Sleep: depends on the night... my back has been hurting a lot when i lay down for bed, but i don't have to get up quite as much to pee now, which is a nice break.
Best moment: finding out the gender of baby williams :)
Miss Anything? still margaritas... and some of my clothes fitting.
Movement: i felt some movement the night of the ultrasound (19 weeks and 3 days) and a little since then at night when i'm laying in bed.
Food cravings: breakfast foods- i've been eating a lot of cereal... and smoothies for lunch. i don't like to eat anything hot and heavy and i'm trying to stay away from foods that will cause heartburn, since i've had a little more of that lately.
Anything making you queasy or sick: not eating soon enough after getting out of bed... i've found i've got about a 2 hour window before i MUST get something in my stomach.
Have you started to show yet: yes. i think about 17 weeks is when it looked like i had a "bump"... but then it would kind of disappear and come back depending on the day... but i think now it's officially here to stay and shows more or less depending on what i'm wearing.
Gender prediction: well, since i know... it wouldn't be fair of me to answer this question ;)
Labor Signs: nope. the PA did mention at my ultrasound that my placenta is low... they're hoping it will naturally move up because if it goes lower covering my cervix, we will be looking at a c-section. i'd like to at least have the option of having a regular birth, so we're hoping this fixes itself in the next few weeks.
Belly Button in or out? in.
Wedding rings on or off? on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: pretty happy.
Looking forward to: our beach trips coming up!!! :) we're going to orange beach with my parents for a long weekend, and then turks and caicos for our babymoon/anniversary!!!

maggie came over last night to help me craft for the gender reveal party- which is happening on may 11th, so i will be announcing the gender of baby williams on the blog the next day, mothers day :)

this guy...

i've been a little out of sorts lately. theres been a few times where i've been moody, but mostly i just haven't felt like myself and it's frustrating.

... like when i decided to start cleaning/organizing my closet and had to stop half way through because i'm suddenly SO exhausted. or when i could just lay on the couch crying because i don't feel good... but when greg asks me whats wrong, i have no answer... and then there is the times where i just stand pouting in the closet and throwing around clothes because nothing fits right and i just feel fat. obviously, i blame it on the hormones. pregnancy can make a girl crazy sometimes.

but this guy has made me laugh when i'm acting like a nut job, rubbed my back when i don't feel well, assured me that i'm beautiful in whatever i wear AND cooked dinner when i just can't handle the smell of crabcakes anymore.

and even when his schedule is a little chaotic and we don't get to see much of each other... he makes up for it by sending me text messages planing taking his pregnant, hormonal wife out for a nice dinner date.
{the hubs holding baby brighton after dinner last week}

... for the record,  i started writing this post days ago and have been feeling pretty great this week.  for the most part i am pretty happy and content... i just feel like greg deserves some recognition for being such a great hubs.

i am SO lucky and blessed to have him around. if he is this amazing of a husband, i can't wait to see what he is like as a daddy :)

my heart just may burst.

jon + katie, the perfect pair shower

so i've decided that next time i am hosting a shower, i will ask someone else to be in charge of taking the pictures, because i failed miserably. but the good news is that despite my lack of pictures {and not having all the food ready and displayed when everyone arrived} the shower went really well.
we had a good turn out and i think everyone had a really fun time.

this was the sample of the invitation... {obviously not with their information}. jon and katie's wedding colors are yellow and gray, so i added a little yellow in with the decorations for the shower as well.

we served: bbq sliders, chicken tenders, homemade chips, cole slaw, and fruit/veggies.
 i made the banner {pictured in friday's post} and the cupcake toppers and kylie {one of the other groomsmen, blair's wife} made the cupcakes- chocolate AND key lime... and they were absolutely delicious!
here's a picture of the groom and bride-to-be...
then they opened gifts and we played a game that i found on pinterest...
you create a list of 16 questions to ask the bride and groom... and make bingo cards randomly numbered from 1-16 and lips/mustaches. the host reads through the questions and one of the answers... and the guests pick {using the lips or mustache} who they think said it. IF they get it correct, they can put a piece {we used m&m's} on their bingo card- then regular bingo rules apply.

the questions i asked jon and katie:
1. what is your favorite ice cream flavor?
2. tell us about your most memorable date with jon
3. what is one place you want to travel together?
4. what is your biggest pet peeve?
5. what superpower would you choose if you could acquire one?
6. what is your least favorite household chore?
7. when did you realize that you wanted to marry jon?
8. when you come home from work, what is the first thing you want to do?
9. what is your go to move theater snack?
10. if you won a million dollars, what would you do first?
11. what is your breakfast of choice?
12. what is your favorite board game?
13. what are you looking forward to most about the wedding?
14. how many kids do you want to have?
15. what excites you most about being married?
16. what do you anticipate to be the biggest adjustment of marriage?
{apparently blake is too cool to hold the lips against his actual face}

a couple of people didn't make it into the pictures because they were tending to their babies, but this is the majority of the crew.

it was a really fun day and i am looking forward to more festivities to celebrate jon and katie's wedding!

high five for friday.

happy friday, lovelies!

i don't have a lot of time to spend blogging this morning, but i wanted to post a quick little something so i decided to participate in lauren's high five for friday link up for the first time.
1. i am loving my new business cards for the blog! if you would like some design work done, i definitely recommend colleen... {just let me know if you would like her email}- she's amazing!
2. jon and katie's shower is tomorrow- the banner and cupcake toppers are done... and today i need to finish the food and game planning/prep.
3. aaron and holly asked us to go to dinner last night, so i got to spend a little time with baby brighton. i can't get over how much bigger she is now- what a little cutie!
4. planning for baby w's gender reveal party has officially begun...we find out on tuesday, but won't announce it until the gender reveal party on the 11th... i'm planning on announcing it on the blog the next day, which happens to be mothers day {i thought the timing was appropriate, yeah?} don't forget to vote on my sidebar if you think baby is a boy or a girl :)
5. with temperatures in the 80s, it's been hard to think of foods that sound good for lunch... yesterday i decided on a chicken salad sandwich and smoothie from panera. the sandwich was okay but this smoothie was so delish that i was a little sad when it was all gone.

{my thoughts and prayers are with the people in boston today and the MIT officer who was shot and killed last night. i hope that they find suspect #2 and no one else is hurt in the process.}

have a great weekend, ya'll.

quick update + a couple recipes

hey lovies!

i must say that having a mile long to-do-list each day has really made this week fly by! we have had something going on every night... and between trying to finish up a junior league project {our provisional graduation is next monday!}, small group at our house and planning jon and katie's couples shower {this weekend, yay!!}- it has been a busy couple of days.

i am happy to say i am finally back in the mood to start cooking again and proud to say that we have eaten a homemade dinner every night this week so far {which the hubs has been really excited about}. tuesday you may have seen an instagram picture of the beginnings of lasagna for my JLA girls...
which was super easy to make... just cook the ravioli half way on the stove and mix one container of ricotta cheese with some spinach (heat in the microwave to cook it half way) and italian seasoning... then start layers with tomato sauce of your choice, ravioli, ricotta mixture and top with italian blend shredded cheese... and bake for about 30 mins, until cheese is melted real good.

then i made banana pudding for small group... using this recipe.
i was tempted to have some leftovers for breakfast, but i refrained and had cereal instead.

well, i have another super long to do list to tackle today, so i better go get on it. i am thankful that tomorrow is friday and i am looking forward to a date night initiated by my sweet hubs.

... now i just have to decide where to eat and what to wear :)

night train to crazytown.

i know i'm a day behind with my weekend recap... i was just plain exhausted after having so much fun {and staying up way past my bedtime} that i was pretty useless on sunday... and still had a hard time getting back into the groove yesterday.

but the weekend was one definitely worth talking about! friday night was the cancer auxiliary's first moonlight masters golf tournament {a glow in the dark night tourny} ... i was on the planning committee and i am SO proud of my good friends {who chaired the event}- the event was a huge success and i heard the golfers all had a blast. i forgot my camera, but you can see a couple pictures on laura beth's blog post

and saturday was the long awaited jason aldean night train concert {also feautring luke bryan, jake owen and thomas rhett}. it was a pretty big deal since there has NEVER been a concert at sanford stadium and no one was quite sure how it was going to go.

i must say it was an AMAZING show!!  my sweet friend maggie went with me and we had SO much fun!
 our seats were really high, but i actually ended up loving being up there.
we had the whole perspective, we could hear perfectly and had a great view of the screen/stage from our angle. what made it extra cool was that jason aldean, luke bryan and thomas rhett are all from georgia and were really looking forward to playing at uga themselves.
  see the yellow tint in the air/trees? that's what georgia looks like in the spring. stupid pollen.
 the bump and i certainly shook it for luke bryan, so i think it's safe to say baby williams will be a country fan :)
it got dark pretty fast, and it was hard to get good pictures of jason aldean performing. but, he was wearing a georgia bulldogs shirt, which i thought was worth showing.
all of the guys were really good in concert. definitely a show worth seeing if you have the opportunity! and i'm so glad i was able to experience the first {and hopefully not the last} concert in sanford stadium.

ask me anything part II

What is your ideal day?
i would start out by sleeping in... then having a brunch date with the hubs {i'm real into breakfast foods lately}... then spending the rest of the day at the beach or by the pool, reading a book with my feet in the water.
If you could work from home would you?
abso-freaking-lutely. and i hope that i can in the future. my office is small, so i don't get a lot of social interaction there now... so it would be really great to be able to wear yoga pants and work in the comfort of my own home.
Are you addicted to coffee? As I would be if I worked for a coffee company.
actually, i don't even drink the stuff- which is kind of ironic... i do enjoy the calorie filled coffee/chocolate combinations, but i try to stay away from having those too often.
Jake Gylenhall or Jake from 16 Candles?
how terrible is it that i don't think i've watched 16 candles all the way through? so i guess i'd have to say gylenhall... though im more of a josh duhmel kind of girl.
Mint or coral?
 ohhhh, tough call. i think i am more into coral a little lately, but i do love them both.
-melissa @ grin and barrett

do you plan on staying home with baby or will you return back to work? - amanda @ my love for lyla
for now, the plan is for me to stay at home with the baby... i don't make enough money at my current job to justify the cost of daycare and then of course hiring a maid {because i wouldn't have enough time to do it all. ha}. i do worry a little bit about feeling fulfilled and missing social interaction {especially since the hubs often works weird hours}, but we'll deal with that if and when it becomes an issue. my mom stayed at home until i was in middle school and i want to be there for my kids like she always was for my brother and i.

what's your favorite thing you've planned for baby life so far?- breenah @ by breenah
i'm trying to hold off on planning too much post-baby... since we don't know if baby is a boy or a girl yet, but i am really looking forward to getting the nursery ready {post coming soon on options for both genders} and filling up his or her closet... but right now i'm enjoying planning the pre-baby stuff- like the babymoon and gender reveal party ;)

the secret is out.

on january 24th we made plans to go tell my parents about baby williams. this is kind of a big deal because i talk to my mom almost every day and i basically had to avoid her for a week and a half... i even had to lie about why we were coming to visit and since momma likes to ask a lot of questions, so she sure didn't make it easy. thankfully i'm a good liar and she didn't suspect anything ;)

i decided to wrap up a couple of baby books {chicka chicka boom boom since it was my favorite for mom to read to me when i was little and guess how much i love you seemed like the perfect pick for my dad}.
mom's reaction was priceless {and she will probably kill me for posting that picture}. she knew what the book meant right away... it took dad just a little longer to figure it out ;)
on the inside cover i wrote: "dear mimi/pops, please read this to me when i arrive in september 2013. love, baby williams"
 they were shocked... and VERY excited :)

next, we wanted to tell our small group... since on wednesday nights we always have dessert, i decided to get a cookie cake decorated to tell the crew.

so i picked up the cookie wednesday afternoon and we drove the 5 mins to the chinouth's house... when we are in their neighborhood, a family of deer run out in front of the truck. the cookie was on the back seat (open end out) and slid off the seat and literally folded in half... which of course, sent the ball of hormones {me} into a hysterical crying mess.
thankfully greg was able to salvage the cookie {with just some smeared icing} and we were still able to tell the group. at least it still tasted delicious and made for a good story! {obviously the picture was taken prior to the deer incident}

to tell the extended family, we snapped this picture and sent out an email announcement. please excuse the way that i look... i was constantly feeling REALLY sick at this point.
and of course we visited, called and texted some of the other important people in our lives before the announcement went up on the blog and facebook.

telling everyone has been really fun... and i am so glad that the secret is out now :)

friday letters.

Photobucket
dear friday, thank goodness you are finally here. it has been a super long week and i am in desperate need of a weekend! dear blog, how do you like all this attention you've been getting lately, huh? a post every day this week?! i know, i really have outdone myself ;) dear house, i am sorry i have neglected you while the blog got all the focus this week... i promise to try to catch up on all the laundry, cleaning and organizing this weekend. dear blog friends, thank you for all the love recently. i am so thankful to be part of such a supportive community! and if you have any suggestions for our babymoon {or have been to turks & caicos, aruba, punta cana} pleaseee comment on yesterday's post. dear hubs, i sure have missed you this week while you have been working hard for the money! our date night and weekend together time is well overdue... and lets get to planning that babymoon, okay?
{the hubs getting his baby practice in with will last weekend... he's going to be such a good daddy!}
happy weekend, ya'll!

babymoon: quite possibly the best idea, ever.

let's be honest- i'll take any excuse to go on a vacation... so of course i'm all over the idea of a "babymoon" before our little one arrives in september! the hubs and i will also celebrate our third anniversary in may, so i figured that would be the perfect time to take a little trip... and i've been contemplating where to propose we go.
{may 2012, overlooking meghans bay}
we went to st. thomas for our 1st anniversary and it was perfection. i'm not a fan of going the same place twice {though the hubs would happy to just recreate that trip}, but i would like to visit somewhere similiar.

here's my criteria:

1. a short flight... my doctor said i'm good to travel up until 36 weeks, but the thought of sitting on an airplane {or in a car} for hours on end is not appealing to me even pre-pregnancy, so i am trying to stick it to 4 hours or less... oh, and a non-connecting flight would be ideal. i know, i'm a tough girl to please.

2. a good beach to relax on while reading a book and sipping a {nonalcoholic} umbrella drink, a pool to soak the bump in, and lotssss good food.

3. things to do... such as couples massages, low performance activities {like an afternoon ride on a catamaran} and eating... oh, i mentioned eating already? let's be for real- this vacacation is not about adventure, it's about relaxation :)

3. i'd love our destination to be somewhere out of the states- because i figure after we have the baby {and more kiddos to follow}, we can travel to other states way more easily.

here's the hubs criteria:

1. affordable price. {every party has a pooper...}

 so far, i'm really liking turks & caicos...
or aruba..
if any of you have been to either of these places, or somewhere else you think we may enjoy... please, please comment and leave me some feedback! it's a little overwhelming comparing all these beautiful pieces of paradise!

happy hubs.

several of you have asked how the hubs and i reacted to my being pregnant, so i thought i'd write a quick post to share the story. now, as you may or may not know... the hubs and i hadn't planned on trying to start a family until this summer-
but sometimes the unexpected surprises are life's greatest gifts ;)

so we weren't actively trying but obviously weren't preventing either... and it really wasn't on the brain until one night while the hubs was at work when i started putting things together. i had been EXHAUSTED for several days  {so much so that the hubs could barely drag me out of bed in the mornings} even after getting more than enough sleep, my boobs were sore, and i couldn't remember my last cycle {TMI?}

so i took a test {what, everyone doesn't have these on stand by?}... which immediately said positive. so i did what any normal girl would do... threw on some sweats and rushed to the drug store to buy three more tests, which i took between the that night and the next morning... and they all came back positive.

{for reference... don't buy many pregnancy tests- if you get a good positive, they are as accurate as what the doctors use... and those things are expensive!}

the hubs got home from work about an hour later and i kept it a secret {and stayed up all hours of the night thinking} while he slept the night away beside me.
the next day, i left work at lunch and went shopping... i wanted to buy some cute converses or baby shoes to wrap up, but of course on late notice- i couldn't find any... and since i was busting at the seams to tell him... i went with some gray sleepers from old navy and told him i had a surprise for him and i was coming home.

 he didn't suspect anything, and thought he was just getting a present because he was being a good husband... the victorias secret box may have threw him off a little bit {oops}, but here's his face as he started putting things together...
and then we both started to cry... in the over 7 years we have been together, i have never seen so much emotion out of him. he was completely shocked and so, SO excited. he just kept saying "seriously?!" and then gave me the biggest hug.
and there's a picture of what was in the box...

baby williams is definitely a reminder that God knows what he's doing... and laughs at our plans.
i can't wait to put our little one in those nighties ;)

ask me anything...

how long were you married before buying a house? greg and i got married on may 22, 2010... we lived in an apartment, then rented a couple of houses before building our house. we closed on january 25, 2013... so we were married a little over 2.5 years.
what's your favorite snack? since i'm pregnant, this is ever changing... but lately, it has been ruffles simply natural sea salted reduced fat chips. they're not as greasy as regular ruffles, but have the perfect crunch and saltyness.
if you had to leave Georgia and relocate, where would you move?  i would probably choose south carolina... i love living in the south and couldn't imagine going far from home, but being close to the beach would be perfection.
- emily of be blessed ya'll

Where would you go on your dream vacation? - ashley of dancing with ashley
i would absolutely LOVE to spend a week in an overwater bungaloo in bora bora... the beach and crystal clear water is my heaven.
What's your favorite item in your closet? - ashley of dancing with ashley
it's hard to pick just one item {especially now that nothing fits quite like it did}... but i do love a maxi dress like the one i was wearing here at maggie's baby shower... i always feel cute, yet comfy at the same time!
Do y'all have any names in mind for the future little ones? (:- hope williams {greg's cousin}
we do... but i don't think i want to share them on the blog... YET. greg and i agree on the name if baby williams is a boy, but we haven't agreed on THE girl name. {don't worry, i have an ever growing list on my phone}... i could have a dozen kids and still not run out of names ;)

i still have some questions for another post, and am still accepting more if you have something you've been wanting to ask- just leave it in the comments or shoot me an email!

16 week bumpdate.

i debated on whether or not to post 'bumpdates'... and while i feel like they are taking over the blog world and kind of the "trendy" thing to do, i came to the conclusion that it will be really fun to look back on in the future. i also enjoy reading other blogger's who are a little ahead of me {to see what i can look forward to... ha} so i thought some of you may enjoy reading them. i don't plan on posting them every week, since obviously it has taken me this long to take a picture in the first place, but hopefully i can at least hit the highlights.
How far along? 16 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: when i went to the doctor last monday i was down 2 lbs. from my previous appt, but i think i had gained about a pound total.
Maternity clothes? ive been trying to stock up on some for summer... i am wearing maternity camis and maternity leggings... as for pants, ive been wearing the jeans i bought in a size up.
Stretch marks? not anymore than i already had.
Sleep: pretty good, minus waking up to pee several times a night.
Best moment this week: my doctor telling us that women with my blood type (B positive) typically have good labor and deliveries. he said it's an old wives tale, but he "more than takes notice" because he has seen it proven time and time again... i sure hope that is true, im pretty terrified of D-day.
Miss Anything? margaritas. and wine- i can't even explain to you how good it smells when the hubs has a glass- and i can practically smell it from across the room.
Movement: not yet...
Food cravings: lately, it's been milk and ice cream- apparently baby needs some calcium! {ive also found that starting at week 13, drinking a glass of milk before bed REALLY improved how i felt in the mornings- so if i have to drink a glass every day until baby gets here, so be it}
Anything making you queasy or sick: the coffee smell at work is promoting a problem...
Have you started to show yet: somedays i feel like i look completely normal, other days i feel like i look 6 months pregnant... but overall, i can see a difference but i don't think anyone else really can.
Gender prediction: at first, i really thought girl... but lately, i have been leaning towards a boy. i think my subconscious is just trying to prepare me for either!
Labor Signs: thank goodness, no.
Belly Button in or out? in.
Wedding rings on or off? on.
Happy or Moody most of the time: pretty happy for the most part. there have been a couple of "crazy moments" {just ask the hubs}, but i feel like i'm really good at realizing when i'm being nutzo, so i try to calm it down.
Looking forward to: finding out if baby is a boy or a girl, of course!
 ... bud wanted in on the picture action, too ;)

what do you think baby williams is?? vote on my sidebar now! :)
