heaven is for real by todd burpo
i had been meaning to read this book for a while. my sister in law, mandy was the first one to recommend it to me. a few days after she was telling me how good it was, i saw todd burpo and his son on good morning america while i was getting ready for work and definitely knew i wanted to read the book.
todd tells the story of his son, colton's trip to heaven and back. when colton was just shy of his fourth birthday when he had to have an emergancy appendectomy and his parents were afraid that they just may lose their little boy. much after the surgery, his parents slowly realize that something extraordinary has happened to their son. when his mom, sonya asks if he remembers being in the hospital colton replies yes, thats where the angels sang to him.
colton also tells his parents that jesus held him during the surgery and proceeds to share impossible-to-know information such as what his parents were doing during his surgery. he also describes meeting his great grandfather and his (miscarried) sister in heaven that he had never been told about.
Colton describes Jesus, the angels and how "really, really big" God is and how much he loves us. i won't spoil the details for anyone who wants to read it but i found the story to be very convincing and captivating. it's a very quick read (i read it in less than 2 days at the beach)- definitely worth the time in my opinion.
